I.M. Brown Best Game Prize Rules

Rules Governing the I.M. Brown Best Game Prize

E1. The I. M. Brown Best Game Prize, awarded in memory of the late Mr. I. M. Brown, former President of the Yorkshire Chess Association, is presented for annual competition amongst members of C.M. organisations (or Associations) and affiliated individual members of the Association for the best game played over the board in

    a) a County Match, or

    b) a Woodhouse Cup match, or

    c) an I.M. Brown Shield match, or

    d) a Silver rook match, or

    e) an A.G. Sunderland match, or

    f) the Yorkshire Individual Championship, or

    g) the Yorkshire Junior Championships.

E2. Any number of games may be submitted by one player in the course of a season, i.e. from October 1st to September 30th in the following year.

E3. Entries shall be submitted by post to the Hon. Secretary before October 14th of the following season. Each entry must be accompanied by the full score of the game, with details of the names of the players, and of the occasion on which the game was played, together with a fee to be determined from time to time by the A.G.M.

E4. The judging of the games shall be arranged by the Hon. Secretary as directed by the Executive Committee, and any decision of the Executive relating to this competition shall be final.

E5. The prize shall have the value of the interest of a fund collected in memory of the late Mr. I. M. Brown, augmented from the Association’s funds as the Executive Committee may decide, and shall take such form as the Executive Committee shall determine.

E6. These rules may be amended by the Executive Committee, but shall not be operative in their amended form until the beginning of the following season.
